The day started at 4:30 am.
It ended at 12:45 am.
I rode around on the buses, I ate delicious street meats, and I people-watched.
The flight was 90 minutes nonstop each way. I brought headphones with Roy Wood Jr and Ilana Grazer downloaded for the airplane rides.
The trip was so needed, so refreshing, so intense (in all the right ways).
The best of all is that this was an emotionally healthy day. No drama. No arguing. No hesitance. I did what I wanted how I wanted and didn't have to check in with anyone.
The ticket was $44. Total.
Take your day trip. Go. Have fun.
As teachers we find it difficult to find purpose outside of the classroom. You can easily take a personal day for this.
To maintain your mental health and your curiosity and your whimsy, find a way to get into nature or travel or anything…anything to bring your focus on something bigger than you and your problems, if only for a teeny tiny bit of time.
And do it regularly. Happiness has to be planned. You have to be intentional about it.
Go. It will make a difference.
